Axe Throwing in Tulsa — Here's Everything You Need to Know

A&R Axe Throwing & Indoor Golf is Tulsa's premier indoor axe throwing venue, located at the corner of 71st and Lewis. We offer open throwing lanes Tuesday through Sunday, starting at $16 per person per hour. Walk-ins are always welcome, though we recommend booking ahead on Friday and Saturday evenings when things get busy. Groups can also book Monday by appointment or any time during the week. Just give us a call.

You don't need any experience to get started — our trained coaches walk every first-timer through proper stance, grip, and release before you ever pick up an axe. Most people are hitting the target within their first few throws. Whether you're planning a date night, a group hangout, or looking for something genuinely different to do in Tulsa, axe throwing at A&R is a guaranteed good time.

We're conveniently located at 6975 S. Lewis Ave., easily accessible from Broken Arrow, Jenks, Owasso, Bixby, and anywhere in the Tulsa metro.

How it Works

Step 1 — Book a Lane

Reserve online in minutes, or just walk in. Choose your session length: 1 hour ($16/person), 90 minutes ($20/person), or 2 hours ($24/person). Pay individually or as a group when you arrive — no prepayment required online.

Step 2 — Get Coached
One of our trained axe throwing coaches will meet you at your lane and walk you through everything — stance, grip, the throw, and safety. Takes about 10–15 minutes. By the end, you'll be sticking axes.

Step 3 — Throw & Have Fun
The lane is yours for your session. Challenge your group, play our built-in target games, or just keep throwing. Our coaches stay available throughout if you want tips or want to level up your technique.

Axe throwing at A&R isn't just one thing — it's the right answer for a surprisingly wide range of occasions. Date nights, birthday parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, corporate team building events, youth group outings, end-of-season sports celebrations, casual Fridays with coworkers — we've hosted them all. It's one of the few activities that genuinely works for almost everyone, from total beginners to competitive throwers who come for our weekly leagues.

What to Expect at Your First Axe Throwing Session

First time throwing axes? Here's what a typical visit looks like:

You'll show up (walk-in or with a reservation), check in at the front desk, and get paired with a lane and a coach. Your coach spends the first 10–15 minutes teaching you the basics — safety rules, how to hold the axe, the proper throwing motion, and how to follow through. Then you throw. A lot.

Most first-timers go from "I have no idea what I'm doing" to sticking axes in the target within the first round. The learning curve is real but fast, and that moment when it clicks is genuinely satisfying.

After the coaching, the rest of your session is yours. Some groups play our in-lane target games. Some do bracket competitions. Some just keep throwing for fun. Grab a beer or wine at the bar, hang out, and enjoy. There's no pressure to perform or compete — it's a good time on your terms.

Closed-toe shoes are required. Everything else, dress comfortably and show up ready to have fun.
